In an effort to measure current interests and attitudes toward UCLA among its key constituencies, UCLA External Affairs is rolling out an alumni/donor census this month to more than 450,000 of the university’s graduates and friends.
As part of ongoing efforts to stay in touch with its large and diverse community, UCLA periodically uses outreach tools like the census, which is being mailed and e-mailed to reach the broadest possible audience.
“It’s important for us to learn as much as possible about our alumni and donors,” said Rhea Turteltaub, vice chancellor of External Affairs. “A richer understanding of their current attitudes, interests and motivations is critical.”
The questionnaire focuses on recipients’ basic demographic information, the nature of their relationship with UCLA and their philanthropic attitudes and goals. Completed census data will be analyzed in early 2009.
“We are confident that the insights we gain from the census will enable us to better support key academic priorities,” Turteltaub said.
