New Year's greetings from a Chinese lion

Lion-danceA Chinese lion personally delivered New Year's greetings Monday (Feb. 6) to surprised schoolchildren as they watched a free performance of Chinese cultural arts presented by elaborately costumed dancers and acrobats, kung fu swordfighters, folk dancers, musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments and singers.
 
More than 500 K-6 students from six elementary schools were invited by the UCLA Confucius Institute to the Freud Theater to see the concert performed by Zhejiang Normal University students, who were on the last leg of their tour of select U.S. cities.

A kung fu fighter demonstrates a basic position to K-6 students during a performance introducing them to Chinese cultural arts.
Students from the UCLA Lab School, two UCLA TIE-INS schools and three schools affiliated with the Confucius institute were introduced to the customs and celebrations that take place on Chinese New Year, the Year of the Dragon.
