Anderson students working for positive social changes receive support
Dart Container Corporation, the world's largest producer of foam cups and containers, has pledged $75,000 in support to the Anderson School of Management. The three-year grant will establish the Dart Containers Social Entrepreneurship Fund, providing financial support to students interested in effecting positive social impact on both local and global scales.
This fund could be used to support a variety of Anderson programs, such as the student-created Applied Management Research Projects aimed at exploring environmental and other issues; summer internships for students interested in working for nonprofits or public/government organizations; or fellowships for students interested in social entrepreneurship. These new opportunities will also greatly aid efforts such as the Leaders in Sustainability program in making a lasting difference in communities throughout the world.
Dart strives to set industry standards for excellence by producing products effectively with a minimum of waste and expense. The company has established award-winning recycling programs throughout the country, and is a signatory to Operation Clean Sweep, a voluntary "best practices" industry program that is designed to prevent the release of plastic pellets into the environment.
