took first place and a $5,000 prize from a field of 12 teams in the second annual Fink Center AIA Stock Pitch Competition. The day-long, Feb. 22 event was hosted by the school’s Laurence and Lori Fink Center for Finance & Investments.
Anderson’s Team GreenRock took on challengers from the nation’s top business schools, including Chicago Booth School of Business, Columbia Business School, UVA Darden School of Business, Duke University Fuqua School of Business, UC Haas School of Business, Indiana University Kelly School of Business, Richard Ivey School of Business, Michigan Ross School of Business, MIT Sloan School of Management, University of Rochester Simon Graduate School of Business and USC Marshall School of Business.
Serving as judges were professionals from top finance firms, among them, TCW, DoubleLine and HighMark Capital. In a round of finals, UCLA vied with students from Ivey, Columbia and Haas in presenting their buy or sell recommendation on Tesla stock, including a 20-minute analysis of the company and 25 minutes of questioning by the judges. Anderson’s team, along with second- and third-prize winners from Ivey and Columbia, respectively, were selected based on the quality of their analysis, the strength of their investment thesis, presentation skills and their responses to the judges’ questions.
