Dart Container Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of foam cups and containers, has pledged $30,000 in support to the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability. The three-year grant will help to fund all three components of the institute’s Education for Sustainable Living Program (ESLP): Action Research Teams that are composed of small groups of students who collaborate with others throughout UCLA to promote sustainable practices; a lecture series that brings faculty from UCLA and across the country to speak on specialized subjects related to the environment; and the institute’s Documentary Film Series.

With this new funding, UCLA and the IoES look forward to being better able to serve the campus and the public and anticipate that Dart's sponsorship will provide the program with increased visibility.

Dart strives to set industry standards for excellence by producing products effectively with a minimum of waste and expense. The company has established award-winning recycling programs throughout the country, and is a signatory to Operation Clean Sweep, a voluntary "best practices" industry program that is designed to prevent the release of plastic pellets into the environment.
