Hammer's first orchestra-in-residence to debut

Be ready for anything if you plan to attend the
first large-scale concert at the Hammer by
wild UP, the museum’s very own orchestra-in-residence. The concert, scheduled for Saturday, July 21, at 3 p.m. at the Hammer, will be the first of three large-scale performances by this 24-member, L.A.-based experimental ensemble that skillfully mixes classical works, new compositions and indie and avant-garde music. The orchestra, which calls itself a modern music collective that practices a philosophy of “radical-inclusionism,” plans to explore the West Coast’s vast sonic landscape of music from July to December at the museum. All Hammer public programs are free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
