Henry J. Bruman Summer Chamber Music Festival: A lunch-hour treat
The Henry J. Bruman Summer Chamber Music Festival will open its two-week run this year on Tuesday, July 17, with a return engagement by musicians of the iPalpiti Soloists who will perform the music of Zoltán Kodály, Eugène Ysaÿe and Friedrich Kuhlau as a string trio, flute quintet and solo cello on Tuesday, July 17.
The California String Quartet
The four free concerts will run through July 26 and take place at the Glorya Kaufman Dance Theater on the second floor of Glorya Kaufman Hall from noon to 1 p.m.
On Thursday, July 19, the iPalpiti Soloists will be back for another chamber concert featuring the music of Beethoven and Anton Bruckner.
On Tuesday, July 24, the Armadillo String Quartet takes the stage to bring audiences music by Mozart, Pete Schickele, Robert Hurwitz and Wolfgang Amadeus Schwartz. The California String Quartet will be featured July 26 at the last concert of this summer series and will play pieces by Haydn and Sergei Taneyev.
The festival is made possible by the Henry J. Bruman Trust, by a gift from Professors Wendell E. Jeffrey and Bernice M. Wenzel, by a gift in memory of Raymond E. Johnson, and with the support of the UCLA Center for 17th- & 18th-Century Studies.
