Only my right foot is showing any sign of athleticism

Day 6

Despite a big breakfast, I felt very hungry after my workout, and was glad to have a granola bar waiting for me in my office. Then I was hungry for a banana an hour later. Then I was ready for lunch at 10:15 a.m. And again at 11:30, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Note to self: Keep wholesome snacks at hand and in gym bag.

Day 7

Even during warmup and stretching, I did not feel at my best. Then during practice shoulder presses I had a visual aura indicative of an approaching migraine. Rare for me, but totally debilitating. I was glad to have migraine meds waiting for me in my office. Note to self:  Keep migraine meds in gym bag.

Day 8, Nutrition Wednesday

I recommend this simple, inexpensive, wholesome food for BHIPsters and their families:

Baked Stuffed Potatoes
Ingredients:
1 baking potato per person
Washed broccoli florets, about 1 cup per person
Plain yogurt or milk (or sour cream if you’re feeling decadent)
Cheese (about 1 slice/person -- it doesn’t matter what kind)
Salt and pepper

1. Bake the potatoes in a hot hot oven to crispify the skins.
2. Steam the broccoli until beyond al dente.
3. When potatoes are done, cut in half lengthwise, scoop the potato into the bowl, leaving the skin intact. No worries if the skin breaks.
4. Mash together the potato and broccoli with enough yogurt or milk to make it mashable. Add salt and pepper until it tastes delicious.
5. Put the potato skins insides-up on a cookie sheet. Line the inside of each skin with a slice of cheese. Fill skins to overflowing with broc-potato mash. There will be a lot of mixture left over for snacking the next day (mix into an egg, form into pancakes, and bake. Or fry.)
6. Put potatoes back into the oven until kid gets home from afternoon activities and demands to be fed.

Kid Critic Review: “Delicious, except for the broccoli.”

Day 9

I love the Drake Stadium days. We divided into groups of three. Each group had to throw a heavy ball up at the wall and catch it. 200 times. Somehow I managed my share without fainting or vomiting. So far, only my right foot is showing any sign of athleticism. Note to self: Antifungal in the gym bag.

Day 10

Fun warmup in the gym: stretches, squatting to lift a big heavy ball, and then the workout: jumping rope and assorted tortures to the body. Left with every item of clothing soaked. Weekend shopping list: Bigger gym bag.
