Inaugural Martin Klein Prize awarded to history prof

Associate Professor of History Ghislaine Lydon has been chosen by the American Historical Association (AHA) to receive the first-ever Martin A. Klein Prize in African History. Lydon’s book, “On Trans-Saharan Trails: Islamic Law, Trade Networks, and Cross-Cultural Exchange in Nineteenth-Century Western Africa," was published in 2009. She will be awarded with the Klein prize at the AHA’s annual meeting in Boston on Jan. 7, 2011.
 
The Klein prize was established by the AHA in order to celebrate the most distinguished work on African history published each year in English.
