Joy MillerJoy Miller, who has been at UCLA for 14 years, is the academic affairs officer for the Department of Epidemiology, where she works with graduate students and faculty making amazing strides in public health. “I’ve always felt that your career should be more than a paycheck,” she says. “It is an opportunity for growth, and it is up to each of us to seek out those opportunities.” Joy followed the same philosophy in her decision to join BHIP. “As soon as I read the announcement, I knew this was a pivotal opportunity in my life. I couldn’t pass it up!” In addition to the program’s physical component, she says she’s looking forward to applying what she learns about nutrition to her passion for the culinary arts.
