Kite-making with Afghan artist

International kite master Basir Beria, a specialist in Afghan fighter kites, is offering a
kite-making workshop for adults and teens 13-plus this Saturday, June 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at UCLA’s Fowler Museum. Beria will share his knowledge of this Afghan art form and teach participants how to make an Afghan fighter kite. Beria, who was the kite master on location in China for Dreamworks’ "The Kite Runner," will demonstrate how to whittle bamboo for the kite frame and provide pre-cut materials so that participants can assemble their own kites, which will then be flown on the UCLA campus. Space is limited to 20 participants. For more information, visit Fowler Museum’s
website. Register by emailing
