BHIP or BSQUARE

I don't know why I decided to join BHIP;)) The program has so many things I dislike: working out; working out around others; the possibility (although remote) of having my photo taken while working out; pushing myself; sweat; pain; gym clothes.  Need I go on? While I understand that real change comes often requires a degree of discomfort, I can’t say I'm excited about embarrassing myself.

To be honest, I actually do like to work out, but not to the same old fitness video in my living room. It’s no longer a challenge. What’s more, my DVD player doesn't hold me accountable — no one’s taking attendance.

So I signed up for BHIP, and now that I’m working out four days a week with this vast array of other people, I’m realizing it might (gasp!) do me some good. While I am in alright shape, somehow this “PE class for grownups” has been able to locate muscles that, quite possibly, I have never used. Sore and tender when I wake up these mornings, I pop two ibuprofen and congratulate.... "Noodle monkey arms" -- but I'm getting stronger

It's been quite some time since the words "I have homework" have come out of my mouth.  It's been so long that not only did I mispronounce the words, I also threw up in my mouth a little. ... Prior to being charged with 500 squats and 500 push ups, I was planning on taking a nice, brisk walk around my neighborhood or even a hike.  But a ton of squats? ... Thankfully, squats are no longer painful -- my lower regions have built up an immunity to the once-excruciating motion. Pushups are another story -- my arms have been described as "noodle monkey arms." Long and skinny, my arms aren't powerful as much as they are boney and hilarious. But 500 pushups later, my shoulders are getting stronger and my form is getting better. After another set of 500, I'm pretty sure I could lift a car. Read the complete post here.

Hooked on BHIP and happy about it

leigh dierck 120x120When I applied for BHIP, I totally missed the four-absence maximum. Skimmed right over that with my excellent reading skills. Once I was accepted and read the brochure, I thought, "It's summer and you people want me to miss four classes or less? Riiiigght!" ...  But so far, I've done way, way better than I initially anticipated — I've only missed one class. Sadly, that was because I'm a dope and packed two shirts but no shorts in my gym bag. For a brief second I imagined what I could fashion with the second shirt in my bag, but gym diapers didn't seem like something that needed to happen that Friday (nor any Friday, for that matter).
