One-on-one Fidelity consultation now available
Wouldn’t it be great to get one-on-one, confidential investment advice? Now you can. Starting this week, faculty and staff are eligible for
personal financial consultations provided free of charge by Fidelity Investments, the University of California’s partner in UC’s Retirement Savings Program.
This service builds upon individual financial consultations previously offered by UC but replaced by group classes about five years ago, according to Lydia Oller, director of benefit
services in UCLA Campus Human Resources.
"While Fidelity’s group format for providing financial education reaches a greater number of employees more cost effectively," said Oller, "some employees continue to feel the need for a confidential discussion about their personal situation." The university has heard from many employees requesting that this highly regarded service be reinstituted, she said, adding, "We are delighted that UC has been able to respond in this favorable way."
UCLA faculty and staff are invited to schedule a consultation with Fidelity Workplace Planning and Guidance Consultant Adrienne Hubbell, a certified financial planner with extensive expertise in the features of UC’s retirement program. During a consultation by phone or in-person in the offices of Campus Human Resources, 200 Wilshire Center, Hubbell can help you maximize your retirement savings and plan for other financial goals.
Whatever stage you’re at regarding your retirement — maybe you’re a brand-new UC employee wondering how to get started, or perhaps you’re close to retiring and want to ramp up your resources — this consultation can help you with a wide range of concerns, among them:
- Making the best investment choices to meet your personal and family needs;
Creating a long-term action plan to get on track and stay on track for retirement;
Making additional voluntary contributions in 403b and other optional investments;
Consolidating retirement accounts you may have had with a previous employer.
To schedule your free consultation, call (800) 558-9182 or follow the interactive steps at this Fidelity website
. Please note that due to potentially high demand for this service, an immediate appointment may not be available.
At the same website, you may also register for a variety of free Fidelity financial education classes
held on campus, including "Getting on the Right Path with your UC Savings Plans," "Understanding the Power of Debt," "Your College Saving Options" and "Remaining Confident in a Challenging Market."
