Physiologist to receive national nephrology award

The American Society of Nephrology will present Dr. Ernest Wright, professor of physiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine, with the 2012 Homer W. Smith Award for his influential research on sodium glucose transporters and their role in renal function. The award is presented annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions which fundamentally affect the understanding of healthy and diseased kidney function. 

 

Established in 1964, the Homer Smith Award pays tribute to the former director of New York University’s physiology laboratories.
