Raustiala appointed associate vice provost

Kal Raustiala
Kal Raustiala, director of UCLA’s Ronald W. Burkle Center for International Relations and a law professor, has been named associate vice provost of international studies and the International Institute, effective July 1. In this role, Raustiala’s focus will be on curriculum development, teaching programs and International Institute outreach efforts. He will continue to serve as the director of the Burkle Center, a position he has held for the past five years.
 
Raustiala holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in political science from UC San Diego. His research focuses on international law and politics and on intellectual property. His most recent book, "Does the Constitution Follow the Flag?", was published by Oxford in 2009. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School, Columbia Law School, Princeton University and the University of Chicago Law School.
 
A life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he serves on the editorial boards of International Organization and the American Journal of International Law. Raustiala is also a frequent media contributor to leading publications such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
