I've been getting strong hints about my exercise and diet from friends and family. Like when I went to a farmers’ market with a friend and bought one of those giant bags of kettle corn. My friend asked for a taste and "accidently" dropped the bag, giving it a few quick shakes upside down for good measure. She stared at me intently as waves of popcorn blew around the parking lot. I got the hint.
I have tried exercising on my own by gradually increasing my level of activity, from walking more to taking the stairs up to my office at the Wilshire Center. Yet recently during a group hike I started to fall behind, huffing and puffing. Hey, what happened!? I have realized that I am clueless when it comes to exercise. I can't do this alone. I love BHIP so much they had to lock up the weights just to keep me from taking them home to work out some more! ... But seriously, I am enjoying the program and I am proud that I made it to week 4. The first week was the hardest, but it’s getting easier because it’s part of my routine now and I look forward to each class. ... I think these 4 weeks have paid off already; I just got back from a weekend of camping, hiking, scrambling, and canoeing (24 miles!).
