Change your mind, change your life

siegel-danielWant to improve your life? Then rewire your brain, advises UCLA professor of clinical psychiatry Dr. Daniel Siegel in his new book, “Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation.” Dr. Siegel will talk about this breakthrough concept at “How to Harness the Power of Your Mind to Have a Fuller, Happier, More Productive Career and Life,” on Nov. 4, noon-1 p.m. The free Learn-at-Lunch event is sponsored by UCLA’s Staff and Faculty Counseling Center.

Co-director of UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center and executive director of the Mindsight Institute, Dr. Siegel developed Mindsight through 25 years of research and practice as a psychotherapist. Rather than being fated to behave in habitual ways, Dr. Siegel asserts, we have the ability to harness the power of our minds to resculpt the neural pathways of our brains — and in the process, live happier, more productive lives at work and home.

Dr. Siegel has lectured extensively around the world, including presentations for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Pope John Paul II. In addition to his new book, Dr. Siegel is the author of “The Mindful Brain: Reflection & Attunement in the Cultivation of Well-Being,” “The Developing Mind: How Relationships & the Brain Intersect to Shape Who We Are,” and “Parenting from the Inside Out.”

All are welcome to this event, which takes place in the Louis Jolyon West Auditorium at the Semel Institute. Space is limited, however, so please RSVP by calling (310) 794-0245 or emailing lenawu@chr.ucla.edu
